We were contracted by FP Plastics out of Louisiana. FP plastics manufactures custom plastic products. FP went with a custom trench drain configuration of multiple perimeters, semi perimeters, pre sloped components, neutral components and catch basin systems. Formosa went with the 200 series which is a 8" wide heavy duty ductile iron system with galvanized steel frames and fiber reinforced concrete shell. The catch basins were custom to deal with heavy loads, high and low temperatures, freeze and thaw cycles and caustic chemicals. This was a 200 foot project.
Project Highlight: Heavy Duty Trench Drain System for FP Plastics
Project Overview:
Swiftdrain recently completed a significant project for FP Plastics, a leading manufacturer in the plastics industry. The project involved the installation of an 8-inch wide fiber reinforced concrete heavy-duty trench drain system, expertly designed to meet the demanding drainage needs of FP Plastics. This installation, with a perimeter layout totaling 133 feet, showcases our commitment to delivering high-performance drainage solutions tailored to industrial applications.
Advantages of Fiber Reinforced Concrete Trench Drains:
Fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) trench drains offer numerous benefits, making them an ideal choice for heavy-duty applications like those at Formosa Plastics:
1. Enhanced Durability and Strength: FRC integrates fibers into the concrete mix, significantly increasing the tensile strength and durability of the trench drains. This is crucial for withstanding the heavy loads and harsh conditions typical in industrial environments.
2. Crack Resistance: The inclusion of fibers helps prevent cracking and spalling, ensuring a longer lifespan for the drainage system. This durability reduces maintenance costs and downtime, which is essential for continuous industrial operations.
3. Improved Load-Bearing Capacity: FRC trench drains are designed to handle high traffic and heavy machinery loads, making them perfect for facilities like FP Plastics where robust infrastructure is a necessity.
4. Cost-Effectiveness: Despite the superior performance, FRC trench drains offer a cost-effective solution due to their longevity and reduced need for repairs and replacements. This makes them a smart investment for large-scale industrial projects. Solving FP Plastics’ Drainage Issues:
FP Plastics faced significant drainage challenges due to the scale of their operations and the demanding environment. The Swiftdrain team provided a custom solution with the following key benefits:
* Efficient Water Management: The 8-inch wide trench drain system effectively captures and directs runoff, preventing water accumulation and minimizing potential damage to the facility and its surroundings.
* Robust Perimeter Protection: The 133 feet of perimeter trench drains offer comprehensive coverage, ensuring that the entire area is adequately protected from excess water and potential flooding.
* Long-Term Reliability: The use of fiber reinforced concrete ensures that the trench drains will perform reliably over the long term, even under the stress of constant industrial activity.
Conclusion:
Our successful installation of the 8-inch wide fiber reinforced concrete heavy-duty trench drain system for Formosa Plastics underscores the company's expertise in delivering advanced drainage solutions for industrial applications. By addressing the specific challenges faced by Formosa Plastics, Swiftdrain has provided a durable, efficient, and cost-effective solution that enhances the operational efficiency and safety of the facility.
