We were proudly selected as the drainage solutions provider for a recent Amtrak station upgrade, a project focused on enhancing accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This high-profile infrastructure improvement required a robust and efficient trench drain system to manage water runoff while meeting ADA compliance standards.
Engineered for Performance and Accessibility
Early in the design phase, Amtrak’s engineering team specified a product line we carry as the preferred drainage system supplier due to our expertise in high-performance water management solutions. The project called for 1,000 feet of trench drain, strategically laid out in counter-directional runs leading to inline catch basins for optimal water flow and collection. The design had to seamlessly integrate with the station’s new ADA-compliant features while maintaining structural integrity under heavy pedestrian and vehicular loads.
Tailored Trench Drain System
To meet the project’s requirements, we engineered and furnished a 6-inch-wide trench drain system, featuring:
Durable HDPE channels for lightweight, corrosion-resistant water conveyance
Heavy-duty ductile iron ADA grates, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards while providing superior strength
Eight inline catch basin systems, precisely positioned for efficient water collection and redirection
Collaboration from Design to Delivery
Our involvement extended beyond supplying materials—we played an integral role in the design and development process, collaborating with Amtrak’s engineers to ensure seamless integration with station infrastructure. Our team provided detailed trench drain layout plans, technical support, and product recommendations to ensure the system met both performance and regulatory requirements.
